(50 MARKS)

Excel can be used in the following circumstances:

a. A range in Excel is a collection of two or more cells that can be adjacent or non-adjacent.

b. A table in Excel is a structured range that has been designated to hold related data, making it easier to manage and analyze.

c. The Quick Access Toolbar is a customizable toolbar in Excel that provides easy access to frequently used commands and features.

a. Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet application developed by Microsoft that allows users to organize, format, and calculate data with formulas using a spreadsheet system.

b. MS Excel is good to use because it offers powerful data analysis tools, extensive formatting options, and the ability to automate tasks with macros, making it a versatile tool for both personal and professional use.

The three margins that can be found in a spreadsheet are:

  • Top Margin
  • Bottom Margin
  • Side Margins (Left and Right)

a. Text alignment in Excel refers to the way text is positioned within a cell. It can be aligned horizontally and vertically.

b. The text alignments in MS Excel are:

  • Left Align

a. The shortcut keys are:

  • Copy: Ctrl + C

The steps to launch MS Excel are:

  1. Click on the Start menu or press the Windows key on your keyboard.
  2. Type "Excel" in the search bar.
  3. Select "Microsoft Excel" from the search results.
  4. Alternatively, if you have a shortcut on your desktop, double-click the Excel icon to launch the application.
SECTION B
PRACTICAL (50 MARKS)

You are required to create a spreadsheet using MS Excel, by following the instructions given below.

  1. Create a blank workbook in MS Excel and save it as (Your Name)
  2. Create a table with 7 rows and 9 columns in the cell range A3:I9
  3. Insert a title “DAVECOS SYSTEMS” and subtitle “PRACTICAL TRAINING”, by centering it with the table, making the text bold and changing the font size to 19 for the main title and 15 for the subtitle.
  4. Key in the following data below:

  6. Calculate the total marks for each student.
  7. By making good use of the IF function, any student that gets a total mark more than 50 should be marked as PASS else should be marked as FAIL.
