SECTION B PRATICAL

a. Open a database package that you are familiar with and create a database file called “June 2014”.

b. Create a table within this database and use the following structure and data.

INDEX COST
NO
PRODUCT QUANTITY UNIT
COST
DISCOUNT
(8%)
TOTAL
COST
3 54 BEANS 245 13
2 56 MATEMBA 678 8
1 58 NZUNGU 453 7
4 60 NYMO 176 8
5 62 YAM 258 8
6 64 ORANGES 999 9
7 66 POTATOES 776 5
8 68 CASSAVA 894 6
9 70 TOMATOES 366 7
10 72 FRYTOL 387 7
12 56 GEISHA 435 8
14 89 REXONA 207 2
16 65 OMO 400 5
17 99 MALT 444 3
15 90 COKE 626 2
13 91 FANTA 508 2
11 94 PEPSI 367 2

C. Save the table as PROMOTION

Using an Update query:

1. Calculate the DISCOUNT column which is 8% of the quantity column multiplied by the UNIT COST

2. Using an Updata query, calculate the TOTAL column which is the product of the QUANTITY column and the Unit cost column less the DISCOUNT column.

3. Sort the PROMOTION table by INDEX column in ascending order.
